We are the principal co-ed jazz a cappella group at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Currently a 17-member undergraduate RSO, No Strings Attached was founded in 1994 by students from a campus theater group. Since then, we have recorded several CDs, taken fourth place at our 2019 ICCA Quarterfinal at Illinois State University, and performed all over the midwest, from Chesterton, Indiana to the western suburbs of Chicago.
We perform all across the state for many different events and organizations. Although we specialize in jazz, we’re known for our wide variety of music which ranges from pop hits, to indie rock. Although our members pursue a variety of majors, all are dedicated and talented musicians. Whether you're a longtime fan, a curious first-time visitor, or one of our beloved friends and family, welcome! Upcoming and Noteworthy
2019-2020 Season Suspended We are so sad to announce that our season for the year has ended due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19. Unfortunately this also means that our 25th Anniversary concert that we had scheduled for May 2nd is also cancelled. We are sad this has to happen but we understand that it is for the greater good. Our hearts go out to everyone who has already been affected in any way. That being said, we are so fortunate to have had an incredible year! We took three amazing New Strings, competed in ICCA, hosted Acatoberfest once again, spent a week at each other’s houses over our winter tour, and so so so many more amazing memories that we’ll always cherish. Although this is goodbye for a little while, we’ll be back soon! Until then, stay safe everyone. We’ll get through this together. Recent: ICCA Quarterfinals 2020 We’re just competed in our ICCA Quarterfinal! We had such a great time and are SO proud of all of our hard work.
